Potter Space gears up for expansion with new appointment

Potter Space, which owns, develops, and operates five business parks across the UK, has appointed John Royle as construction manager, to oversee the expansion across its 250-acre estate.

John has spent his entire career within civil engineering and groundworks, initially within his family’s firm, before setting up his own business. He then went on to join Scunthorpe-based construction company Britcon, prior to moving to Lindum Group.

During his time with Lindum, he was involved in the construction of the 12,500 square foot Unit 52 at Potter Space Ripon, which received an International Green Apple Environment Award for its environmental credentials.

In his new role he will work alongside head of commercial delivery, Jenna Strover, and be responsible for all elements of construction, from design through to practical completion. This will include appointing the contractors and overseeing on-site works to ensure the building is delivered on time, within budget and to the quality expected.

Speaking about the reasons for joining Potter Space, John said,

“There is no better way to get to know about the ethos of a company than to work with them. Therefore, while constructing Unit 52, I quickly appreciated that Potter Space is a company that is serious about building sustainable and environmentally efficient industrial units. It has also adopted best practice across all areas, from dealing with customers, suppliers, and its own team, through to delivering top-quality buildings and well-presented business parks.”

Managing director of Potter Space, Jason Rockett, is pleased to welcome John to the team.

“We were impressed with the way John handled the construction of Unit 52 and delivered a top-quality building to us. Although it was built speculatively, it attracted a great deal of interest, helped by its eco-friendly features and quality finish. It was quickly let to tile importer European Heritage, which was relocating its warehouse from London to Ripon in order to be better placed to distribute its products to the whole of the UK.

“We have some exciting expansion plans for the business parks over the next few years and John is an excellent addition to the team which will ensure they are delivered.”
