The concept of collaborative working - Jonathan Sizer, MD of Lindum Group York explains why the company enjoys working with Potter Space

Anyone taking a walk around Lindum Group’s sites or offices would struggle to avoid laying eyes on our tag line ‘Teamworks’.

From the branding on staff water bottles to the design of huge exhibition stands, it’s a phase that we reprint and reiterate at any opportunity.

But it’s more than just a soundbite. The concept of collaborative working runs through every division of our business.

We truly believe it is fundamental to a successful company and a happy team. It also underpins our approach to relationships with clients and contractors.

When considering who to do business with, we need to be as sure as possible that the ensuing working relationship will be productive and practical while also remaining open and honest.

In short, we need to be confident that the concept of ‘Teamworks’ extends beyond Lindum and into the mind-set of our partners.

Since the start of our relationship with the team at Potter Space, we have admired the way it looks after its customers and the continued investment it makes in its business parks to benefit existing and future customers. In fact, it is a company that embraces the same values as Lindum.

Like us, it is a well-established, family-run, local business and its principles align well with those of our Group.

The individuals – particularly Jenna Strover – have been friendly and collaborative. Those involved in work to speculatively build Unit 52 at Ripon have demonstrated a practical, forward thinking approach.

The company has kept a keen interest in the development but has trusted our team to bring their construction expertise to the table. They have listened to our advice, as we have listened to their needs, and worked alongside us to overcome any challenges.

Like any successful partnership, long-term success requires honesty and transparency from both partners. Potter Space has been committed to maintaining open and frequent communication as well as personal interaction as often as possible.

As we head into 2020, in the face of economic pressures, there should be an appetite for closer collaboration. We want to work closely with our clients and suppliers to understand cost, drive out waste and therefore reduce price without impacting value or profit.

It is clear that Potter Space strives to go the extra mile for its customers and that is an aspiration of Lindum Group too. Together, we hope to bring forward the development of this unit at Ripon and continue to breathe new life into this part of Yorkshire.

Working for Potter Space has been a refreshingly positive experience for us and we genuinely hope it is a relationship which will continue beyond completion of this building.
