Spotlight On...

At Potter Space, we pride ourselves on the longevity of our relationships with our customers and therefore have pleasure in shining a spotlight on International Decorative Surfaces (IDS), which has been with us for almost 30 years.

Originally trading as L Bloom, before being bought by Saint Gobain in the 1990s, the company used to import Melamine Faced Chipboard (MFC), from all over Europe, which was delivered directly to our Ely Business Park, by its own rail link, through Potter Logistics.

Today, IDS is the UK’s largest distributor of a wide range of decorative surfaces including flooring, worktops and wall panelling, and has a turnover of more than £120m. It provides the most comprehensive choice of specialist products with over 12,000 product lines in stock.

Over the decades, IDS has valued the strategic location of Potter Space’s Ely Business Park in helping them to serve the furniture and fabrication markets in the South East of England. It has therefore continued to expand on site and currently occupies almost 86,000 square feet.

This year marks IDS’s 20th anniversary and we congratulate the company on its unrivalled success and thank them for their ongoing loyalty.

Speaking about the relationship with Potter Space, John Bagshaw, Managing Director of IDS, said,

“We are extremely proud of our achievements over the last 20 years and we are pleased to acknowledge that Potter Space played a part in that success.

“Distribution is key to ensure we maintain our reliability in delivering our products to the customers on time. That’s why we continually invest in a ‘best in class’ nationwide network.

“Like Potter Space, we strongly believe in developing long term relationships, and we look forward to working closely with them for many decades to come.”
