End of an era as we say goodbye to Ginny…

It is with great sadness that we announce that Ginny Mackay, who has been such an integral and valued member of the Potter team for the last 14 years, will be leaving the company at the end of the year.

Ginny joined the company as PA to Derrick Potter in July 2005. Her remit expanded very quickly when, three months later, Matthew Lamb joined as MD and she became responsible for looking after the operations and finance directors, as well as administering the pensions.

As you can imagine, Ginny has seen many changes over the years, not least the transformation from an award-winning logistics company to the owner, developer and operator of five business parks, which led to the subsequent rebrand from Potter Group to Potter Space last year.

Speaking about her time with the company, Ginny said,

“I can honestly say I have never been bored. One minute I would be organising an overnight conference for the management team and the next sorting out travel to India for Derrick and Margaret to attend an international logistics conference.

“It has been exciting getting to grips with technology changes over the years. For example, the migration from Nokia mobiles, through the Blackberry era and on to iPhones and iPads has been fascinating.

“There have also been some memorable moments. One Saturday morning I was watching the news and discovered that my conference venue was on fire and I therefore needed to find an alternative very quickly.

“On another occasion when the Icelandic ash cloud had closed airports everywhere in the northern hemisphere for weeks, I remember having to telephone Derrick at 5.00am to tell him that his flight to Canada was going be the first one out of Manchester but it would be an hour and a half earlier than expected! Why I was awake at that time, I can’t quite remember.

“I’m actually quite sad to be retiring from doing a job that I have loved. I have made some wonderful friends and I shall certainly miss the people I have worked with over the years.”

We will certainly miss you too Ginny and wish you all the very best for a very happy and extremely well-earned retirement.

…and say hello to Kate.

We are delighted to give a big Potter Space welcome to Kate Keddie who will taking over from Ginny.

Kate brings with her 30 years’ experience in administration across a variety of roles from the College of Policing through to Hospice Care. During this time she has gained invaluable experience in management, systems implementation and working with multiple directors.

Speaking about her new role, Kate said,

“Although Ginny is going to be a tough act to follow, I am really looking forward to the challenge ahead.

“Through my experience I will be bringing many transferable skills which will benefit Potter Space as they complete the evolution to a first class and award-winning property business.”
